Learning Equity New Delhi (LEND) was founded in April 2026 with the humble goal of improving educational access and classroom inclusion for children with learning differences from underserved communities in New Delhi.
We understand that working through a challenge of this scale means starting from the ground up, by first acknowledging the gaps that already exist and the wider social and economic inequality they sit within. This is why LEND prioritizes a holistic approach, one that attends to both the small, everyday obstacles and the larger structural ones: how a classroom is arranged, how a lesson is taught, and how much families know about what the law already owes them.
Through this initiative, we aim to address barriers to learning through comprehensive classroom and environmental review, individualized learning plan development, expert insight into special education needs, teacher training, and accessible guidance on legal educational rights. Working alongside specialist professionals, we will use professional screening findings to write a learning plan for each identified child, so teachers have something practical to work from. LEND will build a repository of resources, including an accessible support pack that explains what the Right to Education Act of 2009 offers, who is eligible, what documents are needed, and how parents can use it during admissions and throughout the school year.
Through active community engagement, LEND will also run training workshops for teachers and administrators on recognizing learning differences and putting classroom accommodations in place, and will record a series of conversations with special education professionals, including teachers, counselors and diagnosticians, to show what needing special education actually means and to clear up the misconceptions that surround it.
